Jason Smith has no shame..

“In a country well governed, poverty is something to be ashamed of. In a country badly governed, wealth is something to be ashamed of.” — Confucius

When it comes to our little part of the state, the biggest struggle folks have is poverty. It’s a subject that most of us are well versed in as we go through the struggle on a daily base especially if you’re raising a family. Times are tough for everyone right and we’re all “tightening our belts”. While we’re the kind of people that doesn’t complain too much, considering that our resilience to hardships is something that is just ingrained into our very essence. However, now is the time to start to complain and really start looking at how our leadership is doing to ease the burden. Well, most leaders would be completely embarrassed by the state of their districts and knowing that 1 in 5 children go to bed hungry at night or living with the reality that they don’t know where their next meal is going to come from. But not Jason Smith. He likes to help himself to “Free federal loans” that amounted to about $50,000 that we the taxpayers paid for due to loan forgiveness. Then he likes to sit on social media and let out a plaintive cry about how your tax dollars are being used to help out folks with student loan debt. Which honestly helps a lot of folks around here out. In the 9 years, he has held that US congressional seat and our district's poverty level has soared upwards. In fact, in our county is at the level is 24.7% of folks survive below the federal poverty level and the rest of the state is at 15.5%. So you can see that Jason’s lack of interest in his leadership is hurting all of us. Especially when we don’t have any good-paying jobs that could easily remedy our strife. And the fact he’s not embarrassed that his constituents are suffering should bother every single one of us because that’s not who we are. This is why we need a change in leadership and someone that cares and is mortified that so many are living like this. On November 8th we have the chance to make our little haven even better by electing Randi McCallin. J.Stewart Willow Springs
